Shep Smith is now at CNBC

Shepard Smith is now an CNBC anchor and hosts The News with Shepard Smith, a daily evening newscast 
 
  • Smith is best known for his 23-year career at Fox News Channel, which he joined at its 1996 inception and where he served as chief anchor and managing editor of the breaking news division. He left the station in 2019.
  • Smith married Virginia Donald, a University of Mississippi classmate, in 1987. They divorced in 1993 with no children.
  • In 2017, Smith publicly announced he is gay and has a long-time boyfriend.

Tropical Storm Barry

Tropical Storm Barry bears down on Louisiana coast, will make landfall as a hurricane


Tropical Storm Barry strengthened Friday as it crawled west-northwest over the Gulf of Mexico with sustained winds of 65 mph. Government officials and residents braced for impact from the first tropical system that will make landfall in the U.S. this year. Tropical storm-force winds began lashing parts of the Louisiana coast early Friday morning, the National Weather Service said.

Waves and storm surge pounded the boardwalk and the beach in Asbury Park, N.J.

By the afternoon, the rain had ended and residents ventured out to the pier in Hudson River Park on the west side of Manhattan.
Low-lying areas in Manhattan were flooded, including along the East River near the Williamsburg Bridge.
