Chicago: CTA declares war on bus bunching

The Chicago Transit Authority today announced its attempt to do just that, saying it will role out system-wide "game-changing technology" designed to un-bunch those herds of buses that invariably show up when you're most in a hurry and actually get them to run on time.

Specifically, President Forrest Claypool said the CTA will spend $8.8 million to install in all buses a modern, two-way communication system that automatically monitors the position of all buses and relays the data back to the CTA control center, which will be able to tell drivers via text or voice to leave the terminal early, slow down, or even skip some stops.
